hi i'm a woman mixed with asian & white, and my hubbie is black. i'm due in just 4 weeks, we'll be having a little girl. i have been looking around at websites, books etc. for doing our girl's hair. i wonder if anyone has any tips about good books/sites that would help me??? my primary concern is that i learn to do her hair MYSELF as opposed to having other people do it for me! i also want to know as much as i can about caring for her beautiful mixed hair. any ideas??

as most pregnant women, I can't hardly wait, it's called nesting and preparation! :)

I have a biracial daughter who is 1/2 AA 1/2 Cauc. I too have concerns about how to care for her hair. It seems to me that everywhere we go there is someone (an AA woman) willing to give advice, most often, unsolicited advice. The one thing I have learned in the past three years caring for my daughter's hair is to keep it conditioned and moist. Since you are part Asian your daughter will more than likely have more managable hair, but my daughter has mostly AA hair. To keep it from being too big a chore (for her and me) I section it off and keep it in braids or pig tails -- it's easier to get to the scalp (that's where you need to put the oils) and it's easier to do each day (just touch up). You'll learn over time how to take care of her hair. Congratulations.

first, see if she has black or white/asian hair, then decide how to do it. Good luck!!1

it really depends on the type of hair she is born with. I have two girls with very long curly hair. I put their hair into pony tails :-)

Well doing your little girls hair can be very expensive.theres certain products you can use like Mixedchicks (mixedchicks.com) or For Mixed Hair which are both beginning to sell in salons near california through geogria.IŽll tell you all i can.So if you get a bottle (like the ones they use to die hair) you could divide the bottle in four equal sections.fill it up with 1 fourth Baby Shampoo and 3 fourths water.Shake it up and youve got shampoo. You should only wash her hair once a week.(i know gross) try not to use any grease, gels,or spray.Shampoo and conditioner without Mineral Oil or Petrolatum works best.try to use things with Coconut,Pomegranate,Avocado, and Jojoba Seed oil in them.MixedChicks is worth it but its $37.00 for everything.(shampoo, conditioner, moistuizer) i recommennd you take a look at there site.
